Substitute products for black hair

Here are some hair care products to use in countries that don’t provide for black hair

Someone once asked me what to do if she couldn’t find products that cater for black hair in the country that she lives in.

Here are some fabulous products that I discovered by being pro active and adventurous when I couldn’t find products tailored for dreadlocks or for black hair.

I use these products below when I want to revive my hair and give it a boost.

I also use these when I have dyed my hair and wish to replenish the roots and locs:

Apply the ‘Dessange sublime restructure’ conditioner after washing your hair and cover your hair with a shower cap for double the time written on the bottle – remember – dreadlocks require more time than what is written on the bottle of brands tailored towards un locked hair.
Then apply the ‘L’Oreal huile extraordinaire’ butter to the roots and locs. Blow dry the scalp and locs so that the butter melts and turns to oil.
Add the other two oils ‘Le petit Olivier olive, karite and argan’, and the ‘Dessange extreme 3 oils’ to the scalp and locs, then seal it all in with a cap and leave to soak in and treat the hair for a couple of hours.
When you’re through, blow dry your hair thoroughly.
After this rejuvenating regimen, your locs will be bouncy, full of life, and softer than usual.
Substitute these products with any good product that you know can do an equally good job.
I use these particular products for my locs because I live in Europe where it’s not easy to access products tailored for black hair or locs. When you live in such countries you need to be smart, creative and learn how to improvise. Trust me there is always a substitute for any hair care product. You may even need to be bold enough to learn how to mix some important oils, herbs, butters or creams for your hair by yourself.
